Tips for Success
Use room-temperature butter for easier creaming. Don’t overmix the dough—just combine until smooth. Chill the dough briefly if it feels too sticky to handle. Make sure to spread Nutella evenly but not too close to the edges to avoid leaking. Let the pie cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup Nutella (or more, to taste)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or line a 9-inch pie dish with parchment paper. In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Press half the dough into the pie dish. Spread Nutella evenly over the top, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Flatten remaining dough and place over the Nutella layer, sealing the edges. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and set. Let cool slightly before serving.
Additional Tips or Variations
Add chopped hazelnuts for a crunchy twist. Swap Nutella for peanut butter or cookie butter for a flavor variation. Top with sea salt flakes for a sweet-salty balance. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream for a full dessert experience.
