Ingredients
Glizzies
- 4 beef hot dogs
- 4 hot dog buns
Chili
- 250 g ground beef
- ½ small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cumin
- Salt & black pepper
- Optional heat: cayenne or chili flakes
Cheese
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar or American cheese
- Optional: cheese sauce if you’re going extra
Toppings (optional but encouraged)
- Diced onions
- Jalapeños
- Sour cream
- Hot sauce
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the chili
- Heat a pan over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add onion and garlic, sauté 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt & pepper.
- Add crushed tomatoes and simmer 10–15 minutes until thick.
2️⃣ Cook the glizzies
- Grill, pan-fry, or boil hot dogs until heated through and lightly browned.
3️⃣ Toast the buns
- Lightly butter buns and toast in a pan or oven until golden.
4️⃣ Assemble (this is the fun part)
- Place hot dog in bun
- Spoon hot chili over the top
- Add a generous handful of cheese
- Optional: broil for 1–2 minutes to melt cheese
- Finish with toppings and hot sauce
